About Dr. Gekhman
I am a board certified psychiatrist who believes in patient-centered care. My treatment approach is kind, compassionate, and collaborative. I’m influenced by my interests in mindfulness, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and psychedelic medicine.
Education and training
• Undergraduate and medical training at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education and at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, my work there included a focus on treating under-served populations.
• Completed residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel where I was the senior resident in charge of the psychodynamic psychotherapy program.
• Post-residency I worked as an inpatient psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, helping people who were going through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
• During that time I supervised residents in training in the outpatient department as both a psychopharmacology supervisor and a psychodynamic psychotherapy supervisor.
• I completed ketamine medical provider training through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.
Current work and projects
• My outpatient practice offers both medication and therapy treatment.
• Ketamine assisted treatment in collaboration with NY Integrative Psychiatry.
• Psychotherapy supervisor, lecturer, and assistant clinical professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Mount Sinai Beth Israel psychiatric residency program.
• Lead Medical Advisor to ChartFlow, an electronic health record education company.
